What is the Mazda CX-6e?

The CX-6e is a mid-size electric SUV built on a dedicated EV platform. It has a low, coupe-style roofline and a long 2,902mm wheelbase, which is where the generous rear legroom comes from. Mazda has taken its Kodo design approach somewhere new with it: an illuminated grille wing, slim LED lights that run the width of the car, and flush door handles.

A single 190kW motor drives the rear wheels. You can switch between Normal, Sport and Individual modes, which change how quickly the car responds to the accelerator and how heavy the steering feels.

Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a 26.5-inch 5K display that both front passengers can use. Seats are trimmed in vegan Maztex, and two wireless phone chargers sit in trays that are actively cooled, so phones don't overheat on a long drive.

There are seven paint colours. Jet Black is the only solid colour. Machine Grey, Nightfall Violet, Soul Red Crystal, Aero Grey, Air Stream Blue and Crystal White Pearl all come with a contrasting black roof.

How far does the Mazda CX-6e go on a charge?

Mazda quotes up to 300 miles on the WLTP combined cycle* from the 78kWh battery. As a rough guide, Perth to Inverness and back is about 230 miles, and Perth to Edinburgh Airport and back is under 100.

Range in winter will be lower, as it is with every electric car. A heat pump comes as standard on both trims, which helps hold on to more of that range in cold weather.

On a 200kW DC rapid charger, it goes from 10% to 80% in about 24 minutes, roughly the time it takes to grab a coffee. On a 7kW home wallbox, it charges from empty to full in about 12 hours, so plugging in overnight is enough.

The car can also power other things. Its 3.5kW vehicle-to-load socket will run a kettle at a campsite or power tools on a job. Read the full CX-6e specification.

How much is the Mazda CX-6e?

There are two trim levels, and the difference between them is £2,360. Both come well equipped, so the Takumi is not a stripped-back base model.

The Takumi costs £42,990. It comes with a panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control, 360° cameras, a powered tailgate, a heat pump, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Takumi Plus costs £45,350. It adds digital side and rear-view mirrors, ambient lighting, a touchscreen for rear passengers, heated and ventilated outer rear seats, and two-tone upholstery.

If you mostly drive on your own or with one passenger, the Takumi covers everything most people need. The Takumi Plus makes more sense if you regularly carry adults or older children in the back. Our team can talk you through finance on either, and current Mazda offers are listed here.

How to buy a new Mazda CX-6e from Struans

Mazda says the CX-6e goes on sale before the end of 2026, and you can pre-order one with us now. Here's how it works.

  1. Have a look online. Start on our Mazda CX-6e page, where you can download a brochure or send us an enquiry.
  2. Talk to our Mazda team. Call our Perth showroom on 01738 445566 or our Dundee branch on 01382 721500, or visit us at Crieff Road, Perth PH1 2SJ or Jack Martin Way, Forfar Road, Dundee DD4 9FF. We'll go through the trims, colours and what you need for charging at home.
  3. Ask about a test drive. Let us know you're interested and we'll arrange a drive as soon as cars are available.
  4. Get your part exchange valued. We'll give you a figure for your current car, and it doesn't need to be a Mazda.
  5. Choose how to pay. You can pay outright or use finance. We're a credit broker, not a lender, and we'll find a plan that suits your budget.
  6. Place your pre-order. We'll confirm your build and keep you updated until your car is ready to collect.

Our Perth Mazda team is on 01738 445566 and is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. If Dundee is closer, our Dundee team is on 01382 721500 and can help with your CX-6e enquiry too. You can also get in touch online.

*WLTP combined range figures shown. Actual range will vary based on driving style, weather, vehicle load, battery charge and use of features such as air conditioning.
